Sports charity Badminton Without Borders receives two nominations for Jean Borotra Fair Play Award

Bulutangkis.com - Chinese badminton star PI Hongyan is on a mission to improve the quality of life for some of the world's most impoverished children as Global Ambassador and Patron of the sports charity SOLIBAD (Badminton Without Borders).

Both PI and SOLIBAD have been nominated for the Jean Borotra Fair Play.

PI has invested a lot of her personal time and money to the establishment and promotion of the charity, which was founded in 2010 by French photographer, Raphael Sachetat.

World n°4 in 2010 and one of the best ten international badminton players for the past decade, PI won the silver medal in the European Championships in 2004, the bronze medal in the World Championships in 2009, 6 French national titles and many international open tournaments. She was born in China and moved to France in 2004.

SOLIBAD raises funds within the global badminton community assisted by both amateur and professional players and donates the money raised to a number of projects throughout the world including the Care for Kids Orphanage in Bali, Indonesia, the Sanctuary Care Centre Orphanage in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The charity's most recent project was the 1,000 Rackets for Haiti Program which provided sporting equipment and training programs to children orphaned, homeless and living in refugee camps after the Haiti earthquake.

All money collected goes to where the help is needed through Solibad’s “1 Euro raised 1 Euro on the field policy” with 100 % of all funds assigned to targeted projects. All administrative costs are fully covered by SOLIBAD’s partners.

Solibad has a network of top international Badminton stars who have signed on as Ambassadors to promote the charity in their nations and abroad. (aipsmedia.com)
